I learned a lot from listening to this Audible Original。 I did not know much of the history of Rudy Giuliani and his connection to the Trump administration and this was a fascinating expose。 Looking forward to reading more from Michael Wolff。

A short， easily digestible account of Rudy Giuliani--a quick once-over of his work as New York City mayor， followed by a slightly more in depth look at his time as White House lawyer。 Much here we´ve heard before， whether from previous books or rehashing of old scandals as new ones emerge; some material we have not。 （Giuliani´s married life would make a play to rival The Six Wives of Henry VIII， in my view。） This book is vintage Michael Wolff。 I have no idea where his facts come from--he tells t A short， easily digestible account of Rudy Giuliani--a quick once-over of his work as New York City mayor， followed by a slightly more in depth look at his time as White House lawyer。 Much here we´ve heard before， whether from previous books or rehashing of old scandals as new ones emerge; some material we have not。 （Giuliani´s married life would make a play to rival The Six Wives of Henry VIII， in my view。） This book is vintage Michael Wolff。 I have no idea where his facts come from--he tells the story of Giuliani quoting sources but not revealing whether they were via interview， secondhand or what， but once you've a few pages in， you don´t care。 The ¨tragedy¨ of Giuliani strikes me as less the Shakespearean type than it does the Athenian--whatever greatness the man fell from wasn´t exactly the moral high ground to begin with。 Wolff retells the year or so Giuliani had unfettered access to Fox News and other outlets， where he was able to spin the Mueller investigation into something out of Bizarro World。 He pretty much succeeded， Wolff argues， because of a public tired of the news， not learning much about the investigation itself and the relentless buzzing emitting from President Trump´s special counsel´s cable media tour: ¨America´s mayor， speaking faster than anyone could understand， nearly screaming with self righteousness （if not coherence）， clouding the arguments with innuendo， conspiracies and irrelevancies， and advancing with eye-bulging intensity legal theories that tickled the president。。。became a one-man disruption of norms and assumptions。 He was a personal Reich stag fire。 The fact that the special prosecutor。。。would not confront or even raise a public eyebrow at Giuliani。。。gave （him） standalone currency。” All of this may or may not be academic。 Trump lost the election （the only president to lose the popular vote twice since over 100 years ago--sorry MAGAts）， and though he´s fighting it the only way he knows how--litigation--there doesn´t seem much chance of him remaining in the White House。 Will he be off the hook with the public？ Are there charges yet to file against him？ Some have argued President Elect Joe Biden should let it go; others say， No Way。 This book should remind us the story is never over。 Guys like Giuliani and Trump have fifth， sixth and seventh acts， God knows how or why。 But as a codicil to a chronicle of the Era of the Trump Presidency， this short， entertaining and infuriating account of Giuliani should stoke certain fires long enough to maybe give him and his boss some legal trouble later on。 。。。more
